Dr. C. Thomas Swick

a brief biography

dr. c. thomas swick

Dr. Tom was born and raised in Welland, Ontario, Canada. As the son of a chiropractor and a registered nurse, he has been adjusted and immersed in chiropractic wellness philosophy since birth.

His dad, Dr. Don, was very active in the Canadian Chiropractic Association, the Ontario Chiropractic Association, and Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College. This involvement allowed Dr. Tom to learn the value of health education, research, and keeping on the cutting edge of his profession. The office became a second home for Tom, who just loved to shadow his father as he cared for and helped countless patients. As a young boy, Dr. Swick had dreamed of running his own office some day, helping people of every age to live life to their fullest potential. Today, in our office, you will even see some posters and instruments from the office that he “grew up” in!

Education

Knowledge is knowing a fact. Wisdom is knowing what to do with that fact.
— BJ Palmer

After graduating from Notre Dame College High School on the Dean’s List, Dr. Tom completed the customary Canadian Grade 13/College Prep year, and went on to the University of Massachusetts on a full basketball scholarship. At this time, he was also invited to camp by the Dallas Cowboys NFL team and asked to play professional basketball in Germany. His passion for chiropractic and deep desire to better people’s lives caused him turn down these offers and stay in school to pursue his Doctorate. He went on to graduate from Niagara University (with a Bachelor of Science and Biology), and cum laude from Palmer College of Chiropractic (with his Doctor of Chiropractic degree). Dr. Swick is currently one course shy of his Masters in Science and Education. He is a licensed Doctor of Chiropractic in New York state, having passed the National Boards, Canadian Boards, and NY State Boards.

Mission

The Power that made the body heals the body. It happens no other way.
— BJ Palmer

Dr. Tom has seen and experienced first hand the amazing benefits of a chiropractic lifestyle. With regular chiropractic care, he was able to excel physically and mentally throughout his youth.

From a young age, Dr. Tom understood that our bodies are an amazing design, and that they were built with the ability to maintain health.  BJ Palmer once said, "The body needs no help, just no interference," and "The master of your body did not run off and leave you masterless."  When properly cared for, and nervous system interference removed, your amazing creation of a body goes to work to repair and restore itself.

Dr. Tom has been privileged to care for the wonderful people of the Cazenovia, Fayetteville/Manlius, Utica, Syracuse and surrounding areas for over 30 years. He is deeply honored that patient’s come from as far as New Jersey and Indiana to continue in his care! His passion for chiropractic and wellness continues to grow. His desire is to assist the community in reaching their health goals by restoring their nervous system to it’s fullest potential, guiding them through a process to rehabilitate and strengthen their bodies naturally, and encouraging them to live healthy, vibrant lives. Dr Tom's mission is to empower others to achieve their health goals and take charge of their health.

Personal

You make known to me the path of life; in Your presence there is fullness of joy; at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.
— Psalm 16:11, The Bible

When he’s not in the office, you can find Dr. Tom enjoying an abundant life and engaging his 8 wonderful children (ages 10-30). He and his wife, Dr. Louisa, have been married for over 30 years. Together, they home-school, play baseball & basketball, garden, build sand castles, and enjoy the family that God has blessed them with. Their prayer is that their children (all adjusted since birth) will use their knowledge of health and wellness to lead happy, passionate lives. It is their hope that, through this office, they will be able to assist families everywhere to achieve that same goal!

Healing is a process afforded you by your Creator God and is above and beyond the control of man. Your chiropractor does everything possible to help “innate” heal-but doctors cannot heal nor can anyone else produce healing for you. When the right adjustment is made, “innate” goes to work. You feel the results when dis-ease turns to ease.
— BJ Palmer
